Saint Clare’s Executives and VIPs
will Encourage Community Members to “Be Part of Something
Bigger… Locally” at Kick-Off Event in Denville

Saint
Clare’s Health System today launched the official start of Miracles:
Saint Clare’s Vision for the Future, the largest capital
campaign in its history, with an announcement and celebration on
the grounds of St. Francis Residential Community/Corporate Offices
in Denville, N.J.
The campaign's $50 million goal is part of a $200 million investment
in technology and facilities upgrades throughout the health system’s
four campuses. Planned in two phases over the next four years – and
with the first phase of $30 million already underway – the Miracles campaign
will bolster Saint Clare’s position as the health provider
of choice in northwestern New Jersey and strengthen the delivery
of healthcare services throughout the region.
“At Saint Clare’s, we believe in ‘miracles’ – the
miracle of birth, the miracle of healing and the miracle of end-of-life
care,” said Saint Clare’s President and Chief Executive
Office Gary J. Blan, in announcing the start of the “public
phase” of the campaign. “The Miracles capital
campaign, which we are launching publicly today, celebrates each
of those ‘miracles of life’ and continues the healing
ministry and extraordinary, 100-year commitment to this community
of our founders and sponsors, the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother.
The funds raised by this effort will allow us to provide new facilities,
new technologies and outstanding, personalized care for everyone
who comes to us in need.”
Having already raised more than $25 million toward the ultimate
goal in the campaign’s “quiet phase,” Saint Clare’s
is hoping to secure at least an additional $5 million from the community
at large during this public portion of the campaign, which is scheduled
to last approximately one year.
“Saint Clare’s already has reached some notable milestones
during the campaign’s ‘quiet phase,’ “said
Blan. “And this first phase of our four-year, $50 million effort
will allow us to continue to provide the kind of healthcare our community
has come to expect from us well into the future.”
Examples of facilities already supported by the Miracles campaign
during the “quiet” phase include the recently-completed Katena
Center for Mother and Child, Saint Clare’s $11 million,
48,000 square-foot maternity center; and the recently-opened Emergency
Department at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Dover, which was completely
renovated and expanded.
The new facilities and programs that will
be supported by the Miracles campaign
include:
- The creation of a new state-of-the-art pediatrics center
at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville.
- A new Emergency Department
at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville.
- A new Emergency Department
at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Sussex.
- A new lobby/patient access
facility at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Sussex.
- A comprehensive cancer
center, offering both inpatient care and outpatient services.
- Enhanced
adult and children’s behavioral health services.
The
campaign’s largest gift to date came from Saint Clare’s
Foundation trustee Kate Tiedemann, founder and president of Katena
Products Inc. of Denville, N.J. Ms. Tiedemann’s $5
million gift, which named the new maternity center the Katena Center
for Mother and Child, is equal to the largest cash
donation from a living individual to a hospital in New Jersey.
Other extraordinary gifts and pledges received to date include:
A combined total of $2.1 million from Saint Clare’s auxiliaries
in Denville/Boonton Township, Dover and Sussex; $1.5 million from

LLC; $550,000 from campaign co-chairs Bruce and Gale Bott; $500,000

trustee George Valva and his wife, Pat; and Mrs. Ruth Hardin.
In all, more than 800 gifts and pledges from individuals, corporations
and organizations have been received totaling more than $25 million
during the campaign’s quiet phase.
“We are extremely blessed to have such a wonderful partnership
with our community and fortunate to have the tireless commitment
of our campaign leaders who helped us get to this point,” said
Blan.

Urban Harrer, the hospital’s former administrator and the driving
force behind the annual Harvest Festival fundraiser; Honorary Chair
Bart Oates, former All-Pro center for the New York Giants football
team; Executive Chair Donald J. Gibson, northeast president/middle

In addition to the new facilities and programs to be supported by
the Miracles campaign, Saint Clare’s Health System
will be investing more than $200 million system-wide to purchase
new equipment, expand programs and upgrade its facilities. The system’s
investment includes more than $20 million in an information
technology system that will revolutionize the way in which Saint
Clare’s physicians practice medicine and deliver healthcare
services to patients.

needs of northwestern New Jersey residents since 1895, is the region’s
